The Reluctant Partier

You didn’t want to go to the party but there you were, dressed in your best. Admittedly, you should have been gleefully celebrating the end to a terrible year. You didn’t get the promotion you had been sure was yours, the roof to your apartment sprang a leak(and of course, it leaked over your brand new sofa), the beloved car you’ve been driving for a decade finally bit the dust, and to top it all off, you’re dinner tonight tasted terrible.

10..9..8.. The countdown had begun. ...3..2..1 “HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!” Everyone yelled. Kissing commenced, confetti showered down, and people took deep drinks of their champagne. You roll your eyes and rub an errant piece of sparkly confetti between your fingers. With a sigh, you subconsciously make a wish and everything around you blurs and slows down. You get dizzy.
