5 Days Before Christmas

It’s five days before Christmas. The bows are on the presents, snow is falling gently, and the scent of mulled cider wafts through the air. You stand by the front window holding your mug of hot apple cider and watch the world turn white. You’ve always enjoyed snow… as long as your were indoors! As a child you spent your winter days sledding, skating, and building snowmen. As an adult, you hope you don’t have to drive in it!

You just got the news earlier that your family won’t be able to make it for the holidays. Heaving a great sigh, you turn towards the fireplace and add another log. Sparks fly upwards into the chimney. You hear a loud THUMP on your roof. The jingle of bells sounds.

The front window shows that it’s still light out. Besides, Christmas isn’t for 5 more days. What is that noise?
